Scope and build
Scoping, designing and developing new features and change requests across client projects.
Careers
Since 2022 we've worked with a wide range of businesses to design, scope, build and maintain web and mobile apps. With stable foundations and more opportunities heading our way, we're looking to add another developer to our close-knit, fully-remote team.

About the role
You'll join our close-knit team of developers and be onboarded onto some of our ongoing projects. Once you're up to speed, you'll take on the same responsibilities as your new colleagues across a real variety of work.
You'll be working across a range of different projects each month, on a variety of codebases for our range of clients. It's hands-on, varied and a great way to keep growing as an engineer.
What you'll do
Once you're settled in, you'll share the same responsibilities as the rest of the team.
Scoping, designing and developing new features and change requests across client projects.
Writing and running tests for new and existing features so things stay solid.
Refactoring existing codebases for maximum performance and efficiency.
Debugging software when something goes wrong and getting it back on track.
Handling client communications via Jira tickets, emails and the odd video call.
And a lot of the other stuff you'd expect, like documentation, upgrades and maintenance.
What we're looking for
You'll need at least two years of experience working with the following:
Hands-on experience building and maintaining applications with PHP and the Laravel framework.
React, Angular, Vue or a similar modern JavaScript framework.
That experience should give you a good foundation in OOP and back-end development, which will serve you well here. Experience with MySQL and Git would be great, but they're not absolutely essential. Any experience designing and consuming RESTful services and APIs would also be advantageous.
Naturally, as a developer, you'll be a strong problem solver. You'll also be focused and able to organise and prioritise your workload effectively. You'll be capable of professionally communicating with customers and, importantly, you'll be comfortable doing that.
Although the role is fully remote, we do prefer to have colleagues within travelling distance, so in a perfect world you'll be in or around the Staffordshire area.
How we work
The salary range for this role spans from £30,000 to £40,000, depending on your experience. Other benefits include:
Right from day one, Codebased has been a fully-remote business. There's the option to join the team at hot desks in Stafford once a week if you fancy it, traditionally followed by board games and free pizza.
Most of our team work the same hours, but there's always room for flexibility when you need it.
The growth of individuals benefits the whole team. If you've got your eye on a course or qualification, let's have a chat and see how we can help.
We might be small right now, but we're growing. We're confident we can offer you opportunities for progression, both professionally and financially.
All of our team use the latest MacBook Pros. We're also happy to help you deck out your home set-up with whatever you need to do your best work, within reason.
You need a good break after a full day of dev. Our team enjoy a genuine work/life balance, with Slack on mute and zero expectation of being reachable outside work hours.
It's never mandatory, but we enjoy spending time together away from our laptops. Usually that's board games and pizza, but a few times a year we head off somewhere more exciting. Our latest trip took us to Birmingham for gourmet burgers, arcade classics and F1 simulators.
Plenty of the little extras that make day-to-day working life that bit better.
