UI/UX design

Design people enjoy using, that grows your business.

We're Codebased, a UK studio designing UI and UX for web and mobile products. We turn complex ideas into interfaces that feel obvious to use, and we design with your conversion, retention and efficiency goals in mind from the very first sketch.

What it is

Great design is not decoration. It is how your product earns its keep.

UI/UX design is the work of understanding what your users are trying to do, then shaping a product that helps them do it with as little friction as possible. Done well, it is the difference between a tool people quietly abandon and one they reach for every day.

It is for founders validating a new idea, teams whose existing product has grown awkward to use, and businesses replacing clunky internal tools. Whether you need a fresh product designed from scratch or an honest look at why people drop off, we design experiences that move the numbers that matter to you.

What you get

Everything you need to design a product people love.

A full design service, from the first research session to a polished, build-ready design your engineers can run with.

User research

We get to know your users and their goals through interviews, journey mapping and analysis, so design decisions are grounded in evidence, not guesswork.

Wireframes and prototypes

We map the flow and structure with wireframes, then build interactive prototypes you can click through and test before a line of code is written.

Visual and interface design

We bring the experience to life with clean, on-brand interfaces. Layout, typography and detail that feel considered and a pleasure to use.

Design systems

We create a reusable library of components, patterns and rules, so your product stays consistent and your team can ship new features faster.

Usability testing

We put the design in front of real users, watch where they hesitate and fix the friction before launch, so you ship with confidence.

A clean handover to build

We deliver tidy, developer-ready files and specs, and because we build software too, the path from design to working product is seamless.

How we work

A clear path from a rough idea to a proven design.

A transparent, collaborative process that keeps you involved at every step and proves the design works before you commit to building it.

1

Discover

We dig into your goals, your users and where the real friction sits, so we are solving the right problem from the start.

2

Structure

We shape the flows and wireframes, agree the scope and map how people will move through the product.

3

Design and test

We craft the interface, build a clickable prototype and test it with real users, refining as we go.

4

Hand over

We deliver a polished, build-ready design and stay on hand to support the team that brings it to life.

Why Codebased

Designers who think like the people who build.

We are a UK studio that designs and builds software, so our work is beautiful, usable and genuinely practical to ship.

Design that we can build

Because we are engineers too, we never design something that cannot be built well. No beautiful mockups that fall apart in development.

Focused on outcomes

We care about your conversion, retention and efficiency, not just how the screens look. Design has to earn its place.

Senior, UK-based team

You work directly with experienced designers from our Staffordshire base. No hand-offs to juniors, no offshore guesswork.

Decisions backed by evidence

We test with real users and let what we learn shape the work, so you are not betting your product on opinions.

A genuine partnership

We communicate openly and stay involved well beyond launch. We want to be the team you call for the next thing too.

Quietly perfectionist

We sweat the small details that decide whether a product feels effortless, and we do it without fuss.

FAQs

UI/UX design questions, answered.

The things businesses ask us most often before starting a design project.

What is the difference between UI and UX design?

UX design is about the overall experience: how a product is structured, how people move through it and whether it helps them get a job done. UI design is the layer you see and touch: layout, typography, colour and the interface itself. We treat the two as one discipline, because a beautiful screen that is confusing to use, or a logical flow that looks unfinished, both let your users down.

How do you make sure the design is user-centric?

We base decisions on evidence rather than opinion. We start with research into your users and their goals, map their journeys, then test wireframes and prototypes with real people before anything is built. Feedback shapes each iteration, so the final design reflects how your customers actually behave, not how we assume they will.

Do you design for mobile as well as web?

Yes. We design responsive web apps and websites alongside native mobile apps for iOS and Android. Every interface is designed to feel consistent and intuitive across phones, tablets and desktops, so your product works wherever your customers are.

Can you redesign an existing website or app?

We do this often. We audit your current product to find where users struggle, then redesign the interface and experience to lift usability, conversion and clarity, without throwing away what already works. It is a practical way to get more from a product you have already invested in.

How long does a UI/UX design project take?

It depends on scope. A focused design sprint for a single product area can take a couple of weeks, while a full product design with research, prototyping and a design system usually runs over several weeks. After a short discovery conversation we will give you a clear timeline before we start.

Do you offer design support after launch?

Yes. Good design is never finished. We stay on to measure how the product performs, gather feedback and refine the experience as your product and your users evolve, so it keeps earning its keep long after launch.
